Front Door/Back Door... Celebrating 14 years in our new/old home with more throwback pics. The front door of the original cottage faced the beach, with no driveway (who knows what the car situation on Cape Cod was like back in 1905!) The driveway entrance led to the back door. We reoriented the front of our house to face the driveway (the old back of the house). Swipe through to see the new front vs the old back, as well as some front hall progress shots. I wanted nice wide hallways and a pretty entry hall that was welcoming yet private, I didn’t want to walk right into the goings-on in the rooms surrounding it. And one that would allow you to see straight through the house to the view beyond as you entered the door. We saved the original foundation which was beautiful fieldstone mixed with West Falmouth pink granite. So everything came down to the first floor deck, except the original beach rock fireplace, then we built the entire house around it.
