Grief teaches you a lot. Loss is the change you didn’t want. Loss and grief are part of life and inevitable as long as we live. Losing our home in the Woolsey fire in 2018 was a huge loss for not just my family, but for so many of our friends and the entire community. Right after the loss, I didn’t know how I could possibly live my life from there. I could not listen to any music for a few months, I could not imagine there will be a day I could laugh again. Today, I realize that I am healing slowly but surely. Finally we are close to be finishing our “new” home. I can’t believe we came this far. It is a new beginning. This event taught me many things. 1. To have hope in life 2. Don’t wait if you want to do anything because nothing last forever- including ourselves 3. Materials never give me long term happiness 4. Who’s really there for us 5. Importance of non- attachment 6. Compassion to others 7. What’s most important in life 8. Vulnerability is strength 9. Often adversity can be the biggest gift- you won’t know that till many months/ years later 10. Grateful for what I have “inside and out” And much more.. We all fall sometimes and rise up again, and repeat. Always begin again. I am so grateful for people who helped us with kindness and loving support along the way. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. 🙏🏻 I will say this for rest of my life.
