Healing is not linear it’s anniversario de duelo: a heartbreak anniversary. I didn’t think it was real until I had a dream about a heartbreaking moment that happened this time last year. When my therapist said “I’m holding these feelings with you” it was hard to believe them. I guess it’s because we’re conditioned to carry it all by ourselves and to look put together for the world to see. I haven’t been “ok” for a long time. I think most of us haven’t but we’re so good at masking and gluing together the broken pieces. This is your permission to be messy, to not know what to do next, to sit in the unknown for a while. The world can wait, nothing is as urgent as it seems. Tend to your heart and hug your queridos if you still have them.
