👊🏽Amplifying for our relatives in #Chile!💪🏽Repost from @jadethemighty • Today 17 Indigenous orgs and groups from Turtle Island aka North America wrote to the International Advisor to the President of Chile to acknowledge the revolutionary articles within the newly proposed constitution that honor Indigenous self determination, land return and free prior and informed consent. Tomorrow , September 4th, the people of Chile will vote on adopting this constitution. But here’s where the challenge is: Disinformation spread by right wing platforms in Chile has swayed people to vote no or reject (Rechazo) the new constitution. Over the past few couple weeks people like my dear colleague and friend @gap_dynamics have been organizing to combat this disinformation and have been rally international support and solidarity. Today, Indigenous groups showed up. Yesterday , members of Congress rallied to call out @tiktok and @meta for being complicit in the spread of disinformation. Now and throughout Sunday, we need as many people amplifying their support for this new constitution and urging our relatives in Chile to stand strong against disinformation. Let’s also amplify and acknowledge this incredible moment as a model for other nations. It’s about damn time that governments update their constitutions to reflect the realities of our world today. This is not only important for Indigenous peoples but also sets a precedent that could catalyze systems change for everyone everywhere. #apruebo #anewchile #landback
