This post has been 5 years in the making!
Back in 2016-17, I had the honor of providing digital capture support for visionary photorealistic painter Robert McCurdy as he made the transition from 8x10 to digital. Robert’s process substitutes the camera for the viewer’s gaze, capturing extremely high resolution images that he eventually uses as references for his life size paintings. After completing a couple successful shoots together, Robert asked if I was available to go to Washington, DC for an upcoming project - but he wouldn’t tell me who we would be photographing. Well, it turned out to be the most amazing day of my career to date or ever since. After 5 years of politically fueled delays, Robert’s groundbreaking official White House portrait of President Obama was finally unveiled today. I’m so excited to finally be able to share this! Infinite thanks to Robert for the opportunity to work on this incredible project.
