On Saturday, the mixer was making a strange noise. Being a DIY guy, I open the beast to investigate. I use a rag to clean the gear mechanism/find blockages. My finger catches on the rag....and then the gear. Then the top third of my finger went with it. Thinking about it makes me convulse and I’m pretty sure I have a small case of PTSD. Saving the gore (and the negative self talk) — the Häsi team pulled through and finished the weekend strong. Nick and Ben @madebybennyb not only make exceptional bread, but know how to manage a kitchen. It shows everyday, but especially this weekend. I’m genuinely inspired by them everyday and so grateful to have them. Our most recent recruit, Daniel, took on the Brentwood market solo and dealt with the mayhem like a champion. Nothing but 1 loaf left for me lol. What a guy! After a couple trips to the ER, and a new stump, my lovely @dawnolivia and I took care of bread deliveries at 5AM this morning. I was still high on hydrocodone. She did the heavy lifting. And so the show goes on. Blood, sweat, tears, and now an appendage have gone into this bakery journey. That’s the secret to building a dream. Consistency over everything. A solid team that cares for its members. Rain or shine, fingers or no fingers. Keep going, especially when it feels impossible.
