It seems like I’ve been revamping my company forever; I mean it has been 2 years! During this time, I‘ve been preparing myself in every way. A great resource I’ve found is #BloomSeason by @mailchimp , which entrepreneurs of color achieve business success through articles and first hand experiences. Some of the topics that have been the most insightful to me have been “Avoiding Burnout” and “Building the Brand When You Are the Brand.” I’ve learned so much that I’ve applied to my own life. In celebration of #BlackBusinessMonth, I’ve teamed up with Bloom Season to talk about someone who inspired me on my small business journey: My Mom! Everyone who's ever gotten the chance to meet my mom, automatically understands why I am who I am. I’ve learned from watching her, and from tons of conversations about operating a #BlackOwnedBusiness. One of her biggest regrets while running her own business was consistently burning herself out.
