When a singular smell molecule goes extinct, or its information is distorted – due to pollution etc. – the most important, the communication pathway in nature might be the next. SMELL is AIR is E/motion. Where there is AIR there is LIFE there is SMELL there is information AIR is an evolutionary common. AIR is a shared endeavour and the only thing we all share is the AIR we all breath. The AIR in the Serpentine Gallery North exhibition Back To Earth is coded and programmed to change its smells / smell molecule every 2 hours in accordance to time of the day and also with the change of the temperature in the space. The smell coding is about understanding sensory ecology and how all plants and all animals communicate using smell molecule and some time the same smell molecules.
