Some scooter kid will find me... Skating alone can be so peaceful and freeing! But it also can be scary because if we get hurt, what do we do? Here’s a few tips to stay safe when skating solo: ✿Tell someone where you’re going: I always tell my wife or my best friends when I’m going to the skatepark so they know where I’m at. I tell them which park and how long I’m planning on being there so if they don’t hear from me for awhile, they know where to find me or check on me. ✿Get to know others at the park: Not everyone wants to be making friends left and right at the park, but it’s good to introduce yourself or say hey to other skaters at the park who you might not know. Having an awareness of other skaters at the park builds community and helps keep everyone safe and accounted for! We can all help eachother out even if we don’t know eachother very well. We are all part of the skate community! ✿Know your limits: when I’m skating alone, I am extra aware of the new things I try. It’s not to say we can’t practice new or hard tricks when we are alone, but know your body/skills and stay within a reasonable limit of pushing the boundaries. I typically am not out there practicing flips alone because I’ve hit my head before and know flips are very challenging and dangerous for me. So I save those for when I have others around to keep an eye on me just in case I get hurt. Those who are comfy with flips might feel differently and that’s okay. The whole point is to know your body and your limits! Do you like skating alone?? I’d love to know the comments! . . . . . . . . . . . #skatememe #bowlskating #bowlskate #rollerskating #adultskater #adultskating #skatelife #quadskaters #aggressiveskating #aggressiverollerskating #s1helmets #adventuresports #outdoorskating #skateordie #skatememes
