Meet Jay, one of our servers that you may have had a chance of meeting while dining with us. We asked him to share a few things with us to get to know him better:
How did you get into the restaurant industry?
My parents used to own a Chinese restaurant and I would help out when I was young. Since moving to Toronto, I've worked at a lot of Italian restaurants and steakhouses, but it's rewarding to return to my roots with MIMI Chinese.
What’s your favourite part about your job?
I enjoy guiding the experience of our guests, ensuring they not only leave with a full and satisfied belly, but also having gained some knowledge and appreciation for the cuisine.
Something in your pantry you can’t live without?
Probably the hazelnut creamer for my coffee. Yeah, I'm one of those.
Name your favourite thing on the MIMI Chinese menu?
I love the Kuai Style Yellowtail. I'm also a big steak lover, and the Black Pepper Wagyu (when featured) is next level. And from our cocktail list, Lalaland.
Do you have a secret talent?
I like to draw. I have a huge backlog of work I haven't posted, but you can check out my drawings at @dnd_icons.
