Barbara Kruger is represented by @davidzwirner, and for the first time since that relationship began in 2019, she has a show in *all three galleries* on West 19th Street here in New York City. Some of Kruger's most iconic graphic/text works have been re-presented in digital format, "transforming these previously static images into dynamic video works that engage with the visual paradigm of the current moment. In 2019 the artist began creating a series of animated 'replays,' each one augmented with striking sound effects, in which she translates her iconic pasteup collages from the 1980s to this new format.“ (David Zwirner)
Barbara Kruger feels very much a part of the atmosphere right now. You'll see Pledge, Will, Vow (1988/2020) at David Zwirner, which is also currently being shown at the 59th Venice Biennale and at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Additionally, the show at David Zwirner coincides with a large-scale site-specific installation that's currently in the Marron Family Atrium at @themuseumofmodernart. Kruger’s messages from the 1980s sting; they resonate in 2022. You have until August 12th to go see some of Kruger's older work re-imagined, and some of her newer work, too!
