Police killings are just the tip of the iceberg. Policing is an inherently violent institution. And because policing is institutionally racist - this violence is disproportionately targeted at Black people. There are too many examples to list them all - here are just a FEW: ➡️ The routine strip searching of children (this is state sanctioned sexual assault!) ➡️ The routine use of restraint ➡️ The routine use of tasers ➡️ The routine use of handcuffs during the daily stop and searches ➡️ The reliance on racist “gang” databases which routinely block young people from accessing education, employment, housing and support This FIGHT is bigger! ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 We need to build a movement to reduce the power, resources, tools and support that policing has in this country.
