Stephen, I have asked God to give me the strength to write to you because there are no words that truly explain this feeling. On the 21st, you turned 28. We went to your favorite beach to light candles because a man such as you should always be celebrated. To write this letter in past tense would be of disservice, because your spirit lives on through your family, friends, and all the people you have touched. You mean so much to everyone, and the love that you give continues to be felt and enjoyed. To me, you are the biggest, and best part of my world! You are my best friend! I will always love you in a place where there is no space and time. It pains me deeply that I can no longer see you anymore. “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted” often recites in my head because I feel both you, and God, holding me up just as I’m about to fall. I am so thankful to you for your love, your grace, and your protection. I love to look up at the sky—day dreaming about all the places you go! I bet you spent your birthday in Paris, overlooking the city on a starry night, or maybe in Japan because you always wanted to go there. Or, maybe on the moon. However you spent your birthday, I know there was hookah involved! When tomorrow starts without you, I will try not to be so sad, because I know that God, and Grams, came and held your hand.
