Rhythm, jazz, futurism, movement. To Barbara Chase-Riboud, Josephine Baker was the epitome of all of these things. The sculpture 'La Musica Josephine Red/Black', 2021, seen in this video, commemorates Baker, who was an American-born dancer, singer, actress, civil rights activist and World War II secret agent. It marks the final work in Chase-Riboud's musical series. "I'm going out through the door of futurism", says the artist, "because that's where the action is."
