On Monday, I took a trip down memory lane and I returned to my primary school. My memories of Deneholm are positive even though my time for most of my school life into college was not. I developed a skin condition at a young age, it was in its onset when I was in Primary school. Vitiligo’s is a condition not many people understand, and as a result of this, and for being ‘different’ I suffered many years of bullying during my school / college years. My purpose is to spread awareness of what Vitiligo is, and what better way to spread awareness then to teach children from a young age. One saying I absolutely love, is that I want children to grow up with the belief they can do and achieve anything, regardless of what makes them unique and different. Accepting this project to work with my primary school was a blessing for me, helping young children to understand more about difference in skin conditions like Vitiligo and hopefully teaching them that true beauty is in the way you treat people and how you make them feel. 🎶 The children sang ‘The Climb’ as they entered the hall and the lyrics just filled me with emotion, so I’ve included it in the background of my video. They was all such a wonderful audience.
