KAPA’AAAAAAAAAA... This is for YOU The final football game of the season was what Michael Jackson named his most hit song after... “Thriller” The D1 First Hawaiian Bank HHSAA State Championship game was one for the books. The final double header hosted at John Kauinana Stadium in Mililani would see the Kapa’a Warriors and the Konawaena Wildcats. The two outer Island teams clashed for a chance to lift the Koa Wood trophy and be cemented in HHSAA history. The first 3 quarters was a scoreless game, all handled by both defenses until the start of the 4th quarter. A 50 yard punt return TD by the Warriors Senior WR Nash Burkart, who would also win impact player, would put the Warriors up on the scored board first. What would seem to be the one and only score of the game, the Wildcats clawed back to even the game with just a little of 4 minutes left in regulation. A tied 7-7 game would see itself going to overtime in Mililani. The Kapa’a Warriors stopped the Wildcats once again when everything was on the line, and gave their offense a chance to seal the win. A 33 yard field goal by Warrior Senior OL Micah Rapozo would decided the game and your 2024 D1 HHSAA State Championship, the Kapa’a Warriors, would be named your State Champs. Congratulations to the football program of Kapa’a and to the Island of Kaua’i, School, and Community!
