This delightful book is out today! For all the young readers who love drawing and monsters and magic and action and laughs, this one is for YOU. I had the immense pleasure and honor of helping the brilliant duo of @darrenaronofsky and Ari Handel as they adapted their fantastic story from yet-to-be-produced screenplay to Middle Grade novel, and it brought me great joy to see how the same inspiring creativity behind films like Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler could spin into this playful, yet emotionally-grounded story for kids. The book follows 6th grader Eric “Doodles” King, who discovers magic ink that allows the monsters he and his friends draw to pop off the page into real life. Naturally, things get out of hand and chaos ensues. In a fun way! Like other Aronofsky films, it takes place in and draws energy from the weird and beautiful Coney Island, Brooklyn, and it’s a blast, and I cannot recommend it enough.
