A few months ago, I collaborated with ESPN / @andscape on a story about Full Circle, the first all-Black team to ascend Mt. Everest. My role was to create still-life images of the essential gear required to accomplish this enormous task. I didn't know what gear I would be photographing until I arrived on set. So I had to have plans in place for several scenarios. I expected to see ice picks and hammers, helmets, a bunch of sharp objects. I wanted the items to feel like they were levitating or elevating. I wanted a blue highlight to represent the bitter cold mountain. In the end, it was a great moment to meet this team who just made history and to contribute my voice to the story.
