Posted @withrepost • @itwasallyellowww A few months ago Camilo and I walked into an art gallery fully expecting to walk away empty handed. What we took home ending up being so much more than an art piece... We learned about #beelitzheilstätten Sanatorium, which was once the world’s largest Tuberculosis treatment hospital. It housed a total of 60 buildings, and even had its own train station. The facility was built with such careful detail in mind that every building had stunning architecture for patient’s to look at while staying there. The architects knew patients would be there long term, and that some may never leave... Then we met the artist who went to this captivating place. He told us how compelled he felt to take photos there and how it changed him as a person. He saw beauty and history where most people only saw a crumbling dilapidated building. Meeting Mario also had an impact on us, and more than confirmed our desire in wanting to display his photography in our home. He even personally came to our house twice to make sure this piece would be executed perfectly. We cannot thank him enough for sharing his art with the world and especially for allowing us to have a piece of it forever...
