Wearing Green After Labor Day 2022 Gouache on paper, 22 x 15 in. All day everyday I’m aware of how my minds eye creates an abstracted, essentially symbolic version of the world at large. In my painting I find a similar experience by mixing abstraction and figurative presentations. Turning a thing upsidedown, a simple inversion, is an abstraction. Turn a smiley face upsidedown and it means something different. The meaning has been abstracted. What does a tear running up the face mean?
