If I can offer you one piece of advice in this life, it’s that it will keep moving regardless of whether you move with it. I spent years wondering how I would ever live without the life I’d come to know in America. I went back and forth between the ideas of two places I’d lived in two very different periods of my life, and tried to compare and contrast until I’d reduced every aspect down to a quantifiable chunk. The only times I’ve ever been able to let go of the weight of these decisions has ironically been when I was doing the one thing that I feared I would miss the most if I left. I’ve been lucky to travel the world and live in different countries, but I feel most grateful to have left those countries, because if you’ve ever been devastated to leave somewhere, you’ve learnt the importance of making the most of somewhere too. When I look back on the photos of all my American adventures, I can proudly say I made the absolute most of my time there, and the things I thought would matter when I left, surprisingly don’t feel as important. So, if you needed a sign to get out and be in nature, this is it. Don’t let life slip you by, and don’t wait until tomorrow. Our time in any one place is fleeting and it’s a gift to get to spend it the way we choose. I hope you ask yourself this question daily. Am I getting the most out of this life, and am I making this chapter worth while?
