Be friends with the artists. That’s my advice. It brings me so much joy when someone comes to my house and complements me on a family photo or a beautiful sculpture and I can say, “Oh our friend is an amazing photographer and took our photos.” Or “My friend is an artist, she made that beautiful piece.” Once again @alexdavis.photography captured our family in only the way she can. There is a comfort there, and my kids—HAND TO BIBLE—enjoy getting family photos done with Alex. I love how she captures not just the really good moments, but also the in between moments. She has a flow and somehow, she puts our family into her flow. She makes us feel relaxed and at ease and so very, utterly US. So when she says something like, “Hey are you gonna go put on that gown with your rollerskates?“ I’m like, of course I’m going to put on that gown and my rollerskates, thank you for asking. Honestly, we’ve been so lucky to have our photos taken by so many amazing photographers over the years. Most of them friends. All of them artists. So yeah, be friends with the artists.
