💜 Happy Pride from Taipei 💜 I chose to wear lavender this year. The color has a strong association with the queer movement, especially the "Lavender Scare", a time in 1950s USA when queer people were thought to be a threat to national security and were targeted, fired from their jobs and persecuted in various ways. Amid a rising tide of right-wing fascism and ant-trans violence, we must fight back with queer power and occupy public spaces, and let everyone know WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY. Keep supporting one another with love and strength, you are worthy and valid and beautiful, and you deserve your place in society.
