⚡️ running is political ⚡️
Last night’s race was more than just a physical act — it was a powerful expression of resilience, especially for individuals who have long used running as both personal resistance and collective celebration.
A reclaiming of space, of breath, of belonging. Collectively participating, there were runners moving with intention and pride, active participants in the broader story, even if not officially recognized.
They ran not just for themselves, but for their people — carrying their culture, history, and pride with every step.
They deserved to be seen, celebrated, carried, and protected. Our presence at the event is part of that support: bearing witness, amplifying their movement, and reminding ourselves that sport is never separate from the social forces that shape who gets to run freely — and who must fight for the right to move. I recognize the privilege I hold in being able to run without fear, without being questioned, and without being targeted.
With that privilege comes responsibility — to listen, to uplift, and to help protect the spaces where all of our communities can run safely, fully, and freely.
