Tom Critelli, owner of A Plus Sunoco Convenience Store at 465 Grand Street, right, poses with his manager Eric Champion. The business has served the community for 55 years starting with Tom Critelli Sr. in 1967 at the corner of Garfield and Communipaw Ave. In 1987 Tom purchased the original location from his father and in 2000 he expanded to a second location on Grand Street. Growing up in the gas station business Tom remembers when a gallon of Sunoco gasoline cost 27 cents! Eric Champion started in 2005 when they converted the building on Grand Street to a convenience store. Eric calls Tom “Mr. Second Chance” because he employs people who have a troubled past and have difficulty finding work. Eric is now one of his most valued employees. Tom’s three children all worked for the store and his youngest son Anthony is now the third generation working for the family business in #JerseyCity. #JCstorefronts @tfcritelli25
