It’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. And we’d like to introduce you to our friend, Olivia the Great. Olivia is a 4-year-old who was diagnosed with cancer at age 2. We were deeply inspired when we learned Olivia’s story from her mom... While Olivia underwent chemotherapy, the medicines she was receiving made her hypersensitive to taste and smell. Anything served in plastic, silicone or bamboo, Olivia would simply refuse. She could smell the soap and taste the changes in flavor from food served in these materials, and it ruined her mealtimes. When her mom found Ahimsa and started serving food and drink with our dinnerware, Olivia suddenly started eating again. She loved the rainbow colors of our dishes - but crucially- the stainless steel did not change the taste or smell of her food. This is because steel is inert, which means no harmful chemicals are transferred into food. And as steel is naturally non-porous, bacteria isn’t left behind either. Olivia’s mom took Ahimsa to every infusion, and used our dinnerware to serve every meal and every drink - because it helped her child receive the nutrition she needed at a crucial time in her life. She needed every calorie to fight cancer AND the toxic effects of chemotherapy. Because Ahimsa was able to help Olivia eat while undergoing treatments, her little body was able to fight. She is in remission now, as of July 2022! We had no idea the impact Ahimsa dishes would make on Olivia and so many other children.
