Behind the scenes on how I made the “Sandia Tool Box” 🤓 I love working in our fabrication lab because it has allowed me to learn and have access to so many different machines! For this project I was required to design something random around a mystery item using 5 different tool paths on our CNC Router. The mystery item I got was an Estwing 9-in Steel Claw Bar! I had never seen the tool in our shop so I wanted to give it a place to be stored amongst other tools therefore, I decided to make a sample toolbox with an added local flare! 👉Each tool was traced by hand, brought into Adobe illustrator for line work, scaled, and exported into RhinoCAM (a coding for the CNC machine to read) to be tool pathed. Each design element started out as line work while the topography of our local Sandia Peak Crest was created with a 3D software called Rhino. The tool drawers are removable from the assembled box while the topography is attached using a hinge fastener for the lid. The box was finished with a few coats of polycrylic and finishing wax. With the help of my Miss America Scholarships, I have been able to learn so many skills and programs while perusing my Master’s Degree in Architecture at The University of New Mexico! The best part, these skills have translated into my personal life and through my volunteer work. Knowing how to lay foundations, plan, create, and teach others are all things I am so thankful to be getting out of this degree🙏 It is important for me to continue using my skills to help my community learn and grow so that we can thrive on the foundations we have built together!🥰 #MissNewMexico2022 #RoadToMissAmerica #Architecture #STEM #MastersStudent #CNCRouter #WoodShop #Design #MissAmerica #Scholarships #College #University #HigherEducation #ScholarshipOpportunities @missamerica
