Opening Night Recap! Our theatrical opening in New York was full of emotions. My parents who just arrived from China two weeks ago, watched the film for the first time. I hope from now on, they will not nag me about staying in this “not sustainable” business:) My mentor Jan Berris from 22 years ago who chose me from my college in Shanghai to intern at CNN Atlanta came and we hugged for a long time. More than 20 Chinese moms from my neighborhood came and they cried and laughed and said they haven’t seen late night Manhattan for a really really long time (with childcare). And in honor of the film, they will fight for having their own life more. My dear Sundance labmate Amilca Palmer, and reminiscing and celebrating on our creative path since then 2018. That, with a packed packed house of audience, is called an incredible night!
