We love building rovers – but that’s not the only type of robot we develop here at JPL 🤖 We’re the lead @nasa center for robotic exploration and have developed many prototypes for future exploration that could help us on Earth and beyond. Swipe right to see some robots: - This four-legged explorer prototype combines autonomy “smarts” provided by JPL with a doglike walker called NeBula-SPOT, built by Boston Dynamics. - Meet RoboSimian, a four-footed robot that can also stand on two feet. It has four general-purpose limbs and hands capable of mobility and manipulation. - BRUIE, or the Buoyant Rover for Under-Ice Exploration, is being developed for underwater exploration in ice-covered regions of Earth - and it could be used in the city waters of other ocean worlds elsewhere in our solar system.
