Following the announcement Wednesday that President Biden would be forgiving up to $20,000 in student loan debt for some borrowers, about half of all Latino student borrowers are expected to have their entire debt forgiven!!🥳 According to the Education Data Initiative, almost 7 in 10 (67%) Latino student borrowers have educational debt. The Biden administration also extended the payment pause on federal student loans through 2022 and set a repayment cap of 5% of one’s monthly income. 👉🏽Many Latinos have put off several milestones due to the burden of these debts. This includes 33% of Latino borrowers who said they put off marriage and 37% delayed having children because of their student debt.
