Just sitting here enjoying the fall foliage and thinking about how many of my fellow LDS peeps are following Satan's path by embracing Theocratic Ideology under the banner of Christian Nationalism in the upcoming mid-term elections. La-de-da... just a quiet afternoon. This is not an exaggeration of course, as our doctrine clearly outlines that the difference between Christ's plan and Satan's plan was one of agency. Trying to legislate morality into our government not only goes against our very doctrine to, "let others worship how, where or what they may" it also goes against the Constitution as we know the FF took the separation of church and state very seriously. If God Himself wasn't willing to force his children in Heaven to follow His plan, why does anyone think this is what He would like us to do on earth? When I think about our doctrine of the premortal existence, two things come to mind in the context of America's current culture wars. 1. The means DO NOT justify the ends, because AGENCY. If Republican leaders are willing to suppress votes, perpetuate the Big Lie, and use any/all manner of deception to stay in power, they *might* not be on team Jesus. In fact, I submit that the real version of taking the Lord's name in vain is not saying "Oh my G-o-d" but rather lying, manipulating and oppressing others while invoking the name of Christ. 2. There is only so much the rest of us can do to persuade those who are already so far down this path. Remember, if our spirit Siblings heard the plan directly from GOD + JESUS and still walked away, then it's not about the message or the messenger. They are making a choice. And if I am ever tempted to follow suit, ie, lie + manipulate for the sake of a better outcome, I had best correct myself. To be clear, I am not against the Republican party per se, but I am against the extremism that has taken over mainstream conservative ideology. I am against the efforts that have been underway for some time to subvert our Democracy and I sure as hell am against any Christian invoking the name of Christ in an effort to control, dehumanize and strip away fundamental human rights.
