Britons, world leaders and the family of Queen Elizabeth II gathered at Westminster Abbey for the state funeral of the British monarch before her coffin left London for the last time ahead of her burial in Windsor. Outside the abbey, masses of people gathered around London, crowding security barriers and raising their phones high to try to record some of the proceedings. Nearly an hour after it began, the service at Westminster Abbey came to an end. "It feels, somehow, too brief for someone who reigned for so long, yet also efficient in a way befitting Elizabeth," writes Times staff writer Meredith Blake. At the link in our bio, Los Angeles Times staffers from around the world report on the queen’s funeral. 📸: Danny Lawson / Pool Photo: Dominic Lipinski / Associated Press; Ben Stansall / Getty Images; Phil Noble / Associated Press; Petr David Josek / Associated Press; Lewis Joly / Associated Press; Bernat Armangue / Associated Press; Zac Goodwin / Associated Press #RIP #queenelizabeth #funeral #westminster
