Pronghorn fawns have recently been sighted throughout @grandtetonnps. As you explore the park, keep your eyes peeled for pronghorn in sagebrush meadows. They are the fastest terrestrial mammal in North America, and can sprint 60 mph and sustain over 40 mph for one mile!

In 2003, Grand Teton National Park and Wildlife Conservation Society scientists initiated a migration study of pronghorn that summered in the park but wintered long distances to the south. Using then relatively new GPS technology, the research provided a compelling map of how pronghorn used the landscape to complete one of the longest terrestrial migrations (up to 150 miles!) in the western hemisphere, which is now known as the Path of the Pronghorn. Through many subsequent conservation efforts, in 2008 the Path of the Pronghorn became the first federally protected migration corridor in United States history.
