Last chance to see Nature By Design, and these popping Morris & Co. textiles! The Morris & Co. workshop looked to nature for inspiration in patterns, colors, and material aspects of textile production. William Morris pursued the use of plant matter to make dyes more visually harmonious and less toxic than the aniline dyes common to the market in the latter half of the 19th century. Color would have been a selling point for these two textile samples. Nature By Design: Botanical Expressions closes tomorrow, September 25. Find out more at the link in our bio. _ Sample, Corncockle; Designed by William Morris; 1883 Sample, Trent; Designed by John Henry Dearle; ca. 1900
