ANXIETY AND SPORTS PERFORMANCE👇 (with a bit of ninja warrior @ninjawarrioruk 🥰)
I’ve seen this trend floating about the past few days so thought I’d write a lil something ☺️
(TW - anxiety and ED)
As lots of people close to me know I struggle with anxiety - both general and performance based - which is something I’m relatively open about
Continuing off this, I’ve finally (after putting it off for years hehe) started getting therapy to help both my anxiety and subsequent ED that I’ve struggled with over the past 5 years or so (big ups @hjpfitness for the chats we’ve had on it since she talked about hers🥰)
For me personally, I’m very focused on trying to become the best athlete I can be (purely from an internal drive) and I’m very aware that in my head I’ve definitely got my relationship with food twisted as a result - with a nice bit of IBS really not making things any easier 😂
The reason I’m bringing this up is for two reasons - the first because the more it’s spoken about openly, the easier it is for others to do so (and please do feel free to send me a message 💚)
The second reason is because it is very easy to look at an athlete or a sportsperson you admire and view their body as the goal to becoming as highly functioning as you see them as. That’s simply not the case 💚
Our bodies are these incredible arts that can do so so much, and training can lead us to all put pressure on them - and don’t get me wrong this isn’t always a negative thing! But it can be tough, so if you feel yourself struggling or feel like this is something you may have a tendency towards then please do reach out to someone, or even ping me a message 💚 never any judgement
