We adopted Mia when she was two years old and from the moment we got her, I started affirmations with her. We built it into our day, I would give her a bath at night, put on her PJs, brush her hair, and we would stand in front of the mirror, I still can so clearly see it. I would speak words of life, love, and God over her. She couldn’t talk yet, she would just look in the mirror and stare at me but something powerful was happening.
As the months went on, she would say the last word of each affirmation sentence I would say. “You’re a daughter of the King”, “King!” It was seriously so cute and she was into it. Five years later and it’s still apart of our routine, mostly in car line on the way to school but some times we’ll sneak a moment in, in front of the mirror and I love watching her sweet face recite these things over her life.
Mia’s life is a such a story of transformation, I have watched these words of God take root in her life. I love her confidence, she knows who she is, she loves God, and know everyone who
knows her, knows how much she lives out each of these things spoken. She has taught me so much 🥹
I know so many of you have asked us about affirmations, here are some tips: keep it simple, even just a couple of different things you repeat, and make it routine, build it into your night routine/carline, nothing fancy it’s just making it a priority for yourself and your kids, it’s honestly such a beautiful time together. I do it with each of my kids.
Added: “daughter of the King”-God is the King. “Walk in obedience” -obedience to the call God has on her life. 😊
