The first time I made a loc by hand it was a complete failure. I thought watching videos online and piecing together half-information from over here and over there was going to finally help me understand creating quality locs. Well, chile that lil loc looked like a matted mess. 🫢 And it was then I realized making locs was more than grabbing random hair and tools you see most stylist use online. It was about: 1. Hand Placement 2. Using the best tools — for you 3. Understanding how different textures loc 4. And hair densities is a whole different conversation. You might be reading this as you just finished watching a “how to install locs” videos yet they didn’t discuss how your hands should be placed, where your arms should rest or what to do when your client has fine hair. I believe a lot of stylist, loc a lot of different ways but there’s always a better and more productive way. To avoid making the matted mess I was holding in my hand years ago, focus on this: 📌Posture; Where do my hands feel most comfortable when I loc. 📌Research different textures and how they loc up. 📌 Part to loc ratio 📌Try different locing tools PS: Meet me here for part ✌🏾 of the Art of Permanent loc series
