The story of The Egg and The Swann 🥚 🦢 #OnSundaysWeSit The Danish designer Arne Jacobsen believed in the artist’s complete control over a project. Though originally trained as an architect, he had a hand in all aspects of his buildings’ designs, including the interiors. His individual and obsessive control over every component of the design covered everything, from the doorknobs to the flatware to, of course, the furniture. The Egg chair and Swan chair were designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, which Jacobsen designed all aspects of. Their forms are organic and enveloping. The chair’s construction relies on a curved metal skeleton with molded fiberglass shell and minimal padding, similar to the work of other midcentury modern designers such as Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen, who inspired Jacobsen’s work. _ Model 3316 Easy Chair with Ottoman Chair And Ottoman; 1958 Swan Armchair; 1957 #MidCenturyModern #DanishMidCenturyModern #ScandinavianDesign
