shâchâh
A Hebrew word. In scripture, it translates to “worship,” or to “bow down.”
Worship: my understanding once blurry, now sculpted into focus. God carving away at the pieces I had put overtop His original design.
I am grateful for the gift of worship. God, you have refined my understanding of what it means to worship - I get to worship with my life. I see now why all these years this yearning in my soul kept me searching. It is because we were made to be worshippers. And so innately, we search for what to worship; it was always meant to be You.
Worship is more than melodies; it is meant to be every breath.
But, when I worship through music, the song in my soul flows into the melody, and He meets me. He meets me through joy; I can’t help but smile. He meets me in peace; I rest at His feet. He meets me with healing; His hand reaches to my face and wipes away my tears - You, the God of all comfort. He meets me through promise; when I’ve cried out, thinking the cracks in my soul would deepen, You whisper a promise that keeps my eyes on the light breaking in. God, in the melodies I give to you as worship, You have revealed to me my purpose, and stirred me on.
And it is when I bow to the earth that I again say “here I am. Have it all.” And when I stand back to my feet, it is to go where You call, because my yes to You is worship, and it is there that You are.
