@cobgallery is proud to present the UK debut exhibition of celebrated British photographer @jackdavisonphoto, bringing together over 33 original works selected from the artists’ black and white archive, now open and available to view until 12 November. ‘Photographic Etchings’ sees Davison uncover the surreal and the sensual in everyday life, using methods of chiaroscuro, framing, and exposure as instruments of abstraction. Drawing on a photographic tradition that extends through the likes of Saul Leiter, Shoji Udea, August Sander, and Man Ray, all images part of the new show have been traditionally hand-printed in London by Davison as Polymer Intaglio. His playful and curious approach to composition shines through the show, shaped by the formative space of online platforms like Flickr and Tumblr, where he first developed his craft as a young man taking pictures in the Essex countryside. Now one of the UK’s leading portrait photographers, Davison is recognised for his boldly experimental approach to image-making, working with both analogue and digital cameras.
