A Large And Impressive Murano Mid-Century Elliptical-Form Glass Bowl In Hues Of Blue And Aubergine; By Seguso 1950's The thick elongated bowl in colors from blue to aubergine all flanked by clear glass handles; no chips or cracks; some wear to underside. height: 6 1/2" width: 20" depth: 6 1/4" Seguso created extraordinary pieces by mixing colors and arranging them one on top of the other; a technique called “Sommerso”, which in Italian literally means “submerged”. This technique is used to create several layers of glass (usually with different contrasting colors) inside a single object, giving the illusion of “immersed” colors that lay on top of each other without mixing. Midcentury Seguso pieces demonstrate this focus on color––exploring the multitude of color nuances and the infinite possibilities of combining color and light. https://www.epocasf.com/node/9611/ #murano #artglass #muranoglass #centerpieces #bowl #seguso #segusoglass #archimedesseguso #italianglass #midcentury #modern #midcenturymodern #1950s #fifties #modernism #luxury #interiordesign #artandantiques #sanfrancisco #epoca #sommerso
