I’m left with a few images from a road trip taken in the early 2000’s, pre photographer days, that fortuitously informed my natural aesthetic. These photographs were captured in a box film camera. I was wide eyed, curious, and uncertain. I had no idea the relationship with photography that would follow. Someone asked me recently what advice I would give a college student looking to discover themself and I would say this: find moments of least distraction, get lost for days on end, reduce the noise, bring a box camera into wilder parts of the world and listen closely to yourself.
