This footage shot by coalition member @happy_hen_animal_sanctuary at the Santa Barbara County Fair shows animals raised in 4-H and FFA on display. After a stressful transport to a loud, confusing event, many of these animals will be auctioned off for slaughter. Here in Ulster County we’re already seeing posters go up for the auctions that will happen after the fairs—proudly declaring that you can get your animal “processed” on site. Our fair education coalition is continuing to help spread awareness that these events are exploitative and cruel for the animals involved, and for the children coerced into programs like this.
