Anytime I’m learning a new skill in life I find one of the greatest points of resistance is starting. The unknown is intimidating, you’re scared of feeling failure, maybe you’re just not meant for this? I don’t know anyone that doesn’t encounter this one way or another. For me it’s about understanding that failure and “sucking” at something is just part of the process. And I’ve experienced this first hand in every skill I eventually got good at. People see my videos and think that it just comes naturally for me, but they don’t see the countless “failures” that I’ve gone through to get to where I’m at. (I put failures in quotations because failure can be subjective, what might be a failure to one person can just be an important lesson full of growth to another) Even I started somewhere and I too once “sucked” and sometimes when I experience moments of not feeling motivated or creative, those emotions can come up. But I’ve learned not to let those consume me, I acknowledge those emotions and let them pass, because they do not serve me. So next time you think that you suck at something that you’re passionate / excited to pursue step back and give yourself some space to breath. Understand that this is just part of the process and it’s fundamental for learning. Love to fail and fail often, because it’s in the failure that you learn the most.
