Martian bloops @nasa’s InSight lander has detected not one – but four – meteoroid impacts on the Red Planet between 2020 and 2021. With an atmosphere just 1% as thick as Earth’s, researchers have puzzled over why more meteoroid impacts haven’t been detected on Mars. But as researchers study InSight's seismometer data, they can try to find impacts hidden by wind and other Martian noise now that they know what the impacts sound like. Not only are the sounds helpful, but craters formed by these impacts provide scientists with clues into Mars’ past and interior structure.
