Yesterday evening we celebrated the glittering sculpture “La Rose des Vents” by renowned artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. The sculpture, which has been in front of the Conservatory of Flowers since 2015, was officially donated to the city of San Francisco in March of last year. Starting off the celebration was a performance of Dimitri Chamblas’ “Slow Show,” with fifteen volunteers from the local community, each performing one slowed movement. Afterward, we heard sentiments from those involved in the sculpture's temporary and permanent installation in the park, including the Parks’ General Manager Phil Ginsberg, Jill Manton of the San Francisco Arts Commission, co-founder of 836M Julie Lepinard, artist Jean-Michel Othoniel, and kind words from the consul general of France in San Francisco, Frédéric Jung. As the sun began to set, we ended the fête with a concert by disco pop band L’Impératrice! Swipe right to hear some of the show 🎶 Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and to those who attended to celebrate this gift to San Francisco! @othoniel_studio @conservatoryofflowers @sfrecpark @dimitrichamblas @sfac_public_art_collection @franceinsf @sira.sira.sira.sira @l.imperatrice Photos by New Revolution Media . . . . . #publicart #836m #836m_art #concert #conservatoryofflowers #goldengatepark #sanfrancisco
