let’s talk about voluntary abortions 💜 I’ve had three within the past year - two surgical, one medical I am being careful (no lecture needed - I work within the field of sex ed) but can for a variety of reasons not use most of the contraceptive methods available (might share my thoughts / experiences on contraceptive methods later on. spoiler: I urge penis owners to riot and demand their own contraceptive methods) firstly: I feel grateful, lucky and privileged to live in a country (denmark) where I have free access to safe abortions. it is outrageously horrific how all vag owners, regardless of geography, aren't granted the same access (slide 8). our bodies are still used as battlegrounds for politics, religion & ideologies. exit our uteruses, pls there’s alot of un nuanced assumptions and narratives surrounding abortions: notions of how its often hard for the person in question to ~decide~ & then ~process the traumatic event~ these notions often fail to mirror the different set of feelings and attitudes linked to a voluntary abortion, compared to an involuntary abortion (and even then, it’s not a binary: a voluntary abortion is not always solely a relief neither is an involuntary abortion always solely a loss) personally, the pregnancies I have endured have, needless to say, been inconvenient - and the abortions have been uncomfortable. however, they’ve been far from unbearable. they’ve simply been overall okay. the hardest part has not been deciding whether to terminate the pregnancies or not. the hardest part has been my compromised physical well-being what’s been disappointing, has been the lack of support / understanding from the respective abortion daddies. what an emotionally draining shitshow - I can once again confirm how men aren't shit 🥰 (I might write a “how to” guide to men on how to deal - the market needs it) I don’t have a powerful conclusion that’ll make you all go “👏🏼”. it just is points made: 1) access to abortions is still a privilege. we should not rest before we all have access 2) penis owners should demand their own contraceptive methods 3) we don’t experience abortions the same way & lastly ~ 4) you are not alone ❤️‍🔥
