Last summer, on a day off somewhere deep into our hike across the country, George and I were taking one of the production crews vans into a local town to pick up supplies for the camp. When we got into the van, George had just received the first draft mixes of the album in its entirety. Camping rough for 3 months, we treasured any time in a car because it was one of the rare times we had access to a decent sound system. So he asked if it was alright to listen to the album on the drive so he could review it. I’m slightly embarrassed to say, I didn’t make it 15 minutes before I was holding back tears to the point I nearly had to pull the van over. For me, I was hearing something I couldn’t put into words. 1000 conversations, over years, of who you are as a person, where you stand as a creative, what the true definition of success is. And most importantly, finding the things that bring real happiness. It represented all the growth, and work put in to achieve that growth, I’ve seen a close friend do over the past years, and inadvertently inspire mine along the way. In my mind, the Gold in The Gold Rush is the irreplaceable experiences. And this album is a victory lap. Go give it a listen, you will not be disappointed. And to G, enjoy every minute of it.
