"Ben and I are always big advocates of shooting on film, and Ben often goes as far as to lay the groundwork in the treatment stage which is always an exciting thing to read for me. On paper it might have seemed like a tricky shoot for capturing on film - our main talent was only 5 years old, we had animals and a challenging day of shooting miniature sets, but Ben was resolute and Lucy the producer really backed the approach throughout. I love shooting miniatures but it was my first outing shooting them on film. With a Scorpio mini remote head on a 23’ technocrane pushing down the 1/12thscale street set, it was challenging at times to check the fine details of set design and lighting with the SD tap on the 235, but with a stills camera we were able to double check all the fine details before shooting. The final result was even better than I expected - compared to the digital stills, the film rushes came back feeling so much more mature, and with the minutiae of all the colours and lighting bedded in to the image in a way that made everything feel more real. ⠀ We shot on an Arricam LT and Cooke s5is from @arrirental in London, with a 235 used for tight spaces in our model sets with a @pstechnik skaterscope. I’d jump at the chance to shoot a project like this on 35mm again." ⠀ DP @nickmorris____ on shooting @mcdonalds spot 'Little Readers' on 5219 35mm with director @ben_liam_jones. ⠀ Production company - @mermanbranded Dir. @ben_liam_jones Producer Lucy Tate Cinematography: @nickmorris____ 1st AD - @clara_bing_paris Production Designer - @artboy Edit @miss_e_larks @tenthree_editing Post house: @framestore Colourist: @simon_colour_bourne 1ac: @silviofuoco Gaffer: @saulharris74 Grip: @blakesgrips, crane grip @feral_andy dailies grip @jensengrip Processing: #KodakFilmLabLondon Dailies grade by Dan Redrup Scans: @digital_orchard ⠀ #ShotOnFilm #35mm
