Check out this awesome video from Ian Wardle (@misterwardle ), in response to Paul Hindmarsh’s “Cannibal” video.
Repost: “Here I’m showing how I use my Helix LT to make layered loops recorded on the fly.
Firstly, I’m using a Stereo Return block to capture YouTube audio from a phone that’s plugged into Returns 1 & 2 (L & R). In this case it’s an isolated drum track that I record direct into the looper for four bars.
After that I have 3 Snapshots set up in the Helix LT to turn on/off multiple effects at once.
The first Snapshot is for an overdubbed layer with some shimmery chords over the drums. The next Snapshot adds a pitch shifter set an octave lower to lay down an overdubbed bass part. I’m then back to Snapshot 1 playing the main piano line on guitar as the final overdubbed loop layer.
Overdubbing is then turned off and Snapshot 3 then turns on various reverbs and delays and I switch circuits on my Jaguar to play the main vocal melody.
I record all this direct to my iPhone camera via USB so there’s no need to sync video and sound.”
Do you use Helix in unusual ways to make music or soundscapes? If so, we’d love to see what you get up to—and hopefully your music and ideas will also inspire others to think “inside” the box. Just shoot a short video showing us what you’ve done and post it in the comments below, or upload it to your Instagram account tagging @official_line6 and using the hashtag #HelixCreativity. We’ll share our favorites on the Line 6 social channels.
